If you are planning to hire someone to work with kids you want them to be decent people, preferably with clean records. At least they should not be convicted child molesters. The same goes when sending you kids off to fotball school or soccer summer camp. You want to know who is working there.

The problem with for instance soccer coaches or football coachers is they are often voluntary workings being there for the kids and youngsters. That is great of course and most teams could not survive without them. The problem with this is that it attracts a breed of people that should be kept miles away from kids. Lately there has been incidences where coaches have been caught for feeling up young girls or boys. One incident recently discovered in northern europe – on the worlds largest tournament for footballplaying kids – was a man who was a convicted child abuser was working as a volunteering coach and refree and he had been doing so on the torunament for the last two years. A background check revelaed that he was using a false identity and he was immediantly kicked out. Later, the media discovered, that this man had a restraining order forbidding him to work with kids and that he over the last five years had been applying for hundreds of such jobs under various identities in local athletic clubs for kids and youngsters.

The importance of knowing who you are putting in these kind of jobs is crucial so next time someone comes and ask to be a volunteer kindly tell them that you will need to a background check first.
